Owing to building rates remaining below requirements, fewer small and medium employers (SMEs) are developing this type of new housing. The complexity of major development sites is delaying the delivery of truly affordable homes. Oakdale Housing is a community business, set up for the purpose of providing perpetual affordable, low energy homes, in addition to supported accommodation provisions that are urgently required throughout West Yorkshire and combined Local Authority areas.
Working with our team of property experts; architects, surveyors, interior design specialists, we work alongside Local Authorities to utilise and bring back into use Local Authority owned buildings and land, for the benefit of the local community. Utilising this unoccupied land and building space through the conversion and build process, engaging means of asset transfer, donations, crowd funding and grants, creating high quality, energy efficient and environmentally friendly affordable mixed dwelling accommodation.
During the construction phase, local employment and training opportunities for marginalised people will be created as part of the process. Our sister company ‘Oakdale Support Services’ delivers bespoke packages of support to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people in our communities. In particular, asylum seekers and refugees, care leavers, people with drug & alcohol problems, people who are homeless and people with mental health problems.
